You have a knife made of high-quality carbon steel, which is significantly more durable and resistant than conventional stainless steel knives. The blade is particularly distinguished by its hardness, wear resistance, and toughness. It is sharp and easy to sharpen, making it ideal for everyday use. To ensure maximum performance and a long lifespan for your knife, proper care is essential.
Maintaining a knife is relatively simple, but it does require a few important steps. Follow our included instructions to ensure you do everything correctly. We've included a care kit containing a bottle of Falki care oil and a cleaning cloth. These two components are essential tools for keeping your knife in optimal condition.
The first step in caring for your knife is to clean it thoroughly after each use. Use warm water and a soft brush to remove dirt, food residue, and any build-up. Make sure you rinse the knife completely to remove all traces. Then, dry it thoroughly with the included cleaning cloth or a soft cloth. This will prevent moisture from remaining on the blade and causing corrosion.
After cleaning, it's important to treat the blade with lubricating oil. Oils like our Falki lubricating oil form a protective layer on the blade and prevent corrosion. Apply a thin layer of oil to the blade and rub it in evenly with the cleaning cloth or another soft cloth. Make sure you also apply a small amount of lubricating oil to the handle of your knife to protect it and increase its lifespan. Regularly oiling your knife is crucial to keeping it in optimal condition.
Besides regular cleaning and oiling, you should also pay attention to storing your knife properly. Avoid leaving the knife lying around wet, especially if it won't be used for an extended period. Moisture can cause uncoated blades to oxidize. Make sure the knife is completely dry before storing it in a drawer, knife block, or knife bag. If you transport the knife in a knife bag, ensure it is well-ventilated to prevent moisture buildup.
