Discover the HORL leather strop, handmade from vegetable tanned cowhide, for the finishing touch in your sharpening process. Using a strop is the final step to remove tiny irregularities on the blade that remain after sharpening. With the strop you can make the edge of your knives even sharper and give it a mirror-like surface.

Horl Leather Use and Stripping Paste

The HORL leather strop does not require a strop paste as it has a naturally stropping effect. A strop paste is an additional abrasive that can be applied to the surface of a strop to make it more efficient or to give it a certain grit.

Unlike traditional strops, this one has a leather backing instead of hard wood. This allows strop paste to be applied to the back of the strop while keeping the top clean. The flexibility of the strop is ensured by the soft backing. We recommend placing the strop on a hard, flat surface while stropping for best results.
